Women's health and hormone Naturopath on the Sunshine Coast
Painful periods, PMS, PMOS (formerly PCOS), endometriosis, adenomyosis hot flushes, brain fog, are common, but this doesn’t mean you have to put up with them. Kerri Abbott Naturopath and Nutritionist at Alexandra Headland, helps teens and women of all ages understand what’s happening with their hormones and how to bring them back into balance.
Why do our hormones get out of balance
Your cycle depends on a balance of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone as well as adrenal hormones DHEA and Cortisol.
Stress, poor sleep, blood sugar swings, the contraceptive pill, IVF, thyroid function, gut health and xenoestrogens can all disrupt the delicate balance. Kerri looks at all of these and not just the symptoms you have presented with.
Common hormone imbalances and the symptoms they cause
- Estrogen excess: heavy bleeding, clotting, pain, endometriosis, abdominal weight gain and fibroids
- Estrogen deficiency: vaginal dryness, loss of libido, hot flushes, osteoporosis and brain fog
- Progesterone deficiency: breast tenderness, PMT irritability, irregular cycles, anxiety and poor sleep.
- Testosterone excess: PMOS, facial hair growth, fertility issues, missing periods, weight gain, and acne
